Introducing Ricky Boston

 NT Sprint Car 23

The story behind Ricky is both a story of family sadness and inspirational hope in the true spirit of caring.

Ricky’s car has been named in the number 23 to honour his twin niece who passed away at the age of 23 after battling depression. Her suicide brought the entire family to a personal experience of the impact of mental health on Australians generally, and young Australians in particular.

In an effort to find sense in the loss of a loved niece, Ricky turned to his long association with the sprint car community and decided to use his profile as a respected competitor and great communicator to help get the message across about Mental Health. While most people wouldn’t give a second thought to having a broken leg treated or getting a protective flu shot, the same is not always true when it comes to seeking help for a mental health condition.

Ricky immediately saw the benefits of using his sprint car as a sort of mobile billboard – seen at competition events, personal appearances at places such as shopping centres and other venues where he can combine the fans love of the sport with a willingness to hear the message from a respected member of this motorsport community.

While Ricky is ready and willing to compete at every opportunity, like other drivers who are not full time professional motorsport competitors, Ricky needs sponsorship to help him to get the message out. Best of all, his sponsorship helps both the mental health message as well as giving his sponsor a great presence through an association with an important community message. His sponsor is seen as having priorities beyond purely advertising their organisation, to being a real part of their community. People respect that in an organisation.

Ricky has lots of ideas as to how that message can be made a reality for your organisation – these can include signage on NT23, and merchandise such as hats, t-shirts, stubby holders, which can be sold at appearances and events. Best of all, the fact that Ricky is a personable man with a friendly communication style helps to get the dual message of your organisation and mental health across to people of all ages. Word of mouth is always the very best form of recommendation.

If this sounds like an opportunity that your organisation would like to explore further, please call Ricky Boston on 0419 338 183 or email: RickyBoston@groupmail.com to start a conversation about how you can be part of a great community initiative and promotion for your organisation.
